The ICMA Executive Education offering

ICMA Executive Education’s courses are internationally recognised and are required training by many of our Member firms.  The programmes are benchmark qualifications for both the front office and operations areas of the business and are accredited by the UK Financial Skills Partnership (FSP), the skills champion of the finance industry.  The programmes combine the best of both market and academic practice and are designed to be interactive and equip participants with practical skills they can use in their day-to-day jobs.

ICMA Executive Education is unique in that ICMA and the ICMA Centre, Henley Business School, University of Reading work together to deliver training courses, taught by current and former financial markets practitioners which blend practical and academic know-how, so that candidates have a thorough understanding of the topics being discussed.

The courses attract an international client base and present an opportunity to network with counterparts from a whole host of financial institutions.  Delegates who benefit from our courses work in the top tier investment banks, stock exchanges, law firms and regulatory bodies.

Courses are classroom based, however the Fixed Income Certificate (FIC) (formerly known as the IFID), the Financial Markets Foundation Course (FMFC) and the Securities Operations Foundation Course (SOFC) are also available online. All courses can be delivered in-house.

ICMA Scholarships

ICMA has launched a limited number of new scholarships for employees of member firms who are under 25 years of age. The intention is to develop the skills of people who are at the start of their careers in financial markets by encouraging access to ICMA EE courses, particularly the Financial Markets Foundation Course (FMFC) and Securities Operations Foundation Course (SOFC). There are a limited number of scholarships available for each ICMA member firm. Eligible students receive a further 50% discount from the members rate (already discounted by 30% from the non ICMA member rate) to attend the full suite of ICMA EE courses.

History

Since the inception of its European Seminar in 1974, the International Capital Market Association (ICMA), has been committed to providing high quality ICMA Executive Education to its members and to the market at large. The establishment by the Association of the ICMA Centre at The University of Reading in 1991, and its subsequent financial support, has succeeded in creating an institution which is setting the standards in financial markets training and education.

All of ICMA’s Executive Education training courses are under the academic supervision of the ICMA Centre and its faculty, a team comprising highly qualified academic, professional and industry experienced staff. The combination of almost four decades of market experience and academic expertise gives ICMA a unique advantage in the provision of quality training and education for the financial markets.

ICMA Executive Education Scholarship Programme Q&A

Q: What is it?
A: The ICMA EE Scholarship is a unique and valuable subsidy designed to lower the cost of attending ICMA EE open courses. The Scholarship Programme combines monetary value with educational benefit and the results may be career enhancing.

Q: Why are you doing it?
A: ICMA Executive Education courses set the benchmark for high quality fixed income financial training. We are committed to making ICMA EE public courses more accessible to a younger audience of future leaders. High quality financial training and executive education is highly valued by many firms and in these challenging economic times we want to do everything possible to assist our members in developing their employees’ skills.

Q: How does it work?
A: ICMA EE Scholarship delegates will receive a 50% subsidy applied to the existing member firm ICMA EE public course delegate rate. ICMA member firms already receive a 30% discount compared to non-member firms. In effect, an ICMA EE Scholarship delegate will actually pay 35% of the member rate and about 25% of the non-member rate.

Q: Who is eligible?
A: When you register for an ICMA EE public course, you must be an employee of an ICMA member firm and be aged 25 years or younger.

Q: Does it apply to all ICMA member firms?
A: Yes it applies to all ICMA member firms.

Q: Does it apply to all ICMA EE courses?

A: It applies to all ICMA EE public courses. It does not apply to bespoke courses or in-house training.

Q: Can I apply as many times as I want?
A: ICMA EE public courses are well attended and can be over-subscribed, so the number of ICMA EE Scholarship delegates for each public course will be limited.

Q: Will you also apply further multi delegate discounts?
A: We feel that the ICMA EE Scholarship programme is already heavily discounted, so further discounts will not be applied.
